[The Daily Orange]: International students going remote struggle to sublet apartment leases

Because of the COVID-19 outbreak in the U.S., international students at Syracuse University who signed the housing lease before the outbreak now face the potential of no one to sublet their leases, and the housing price varies from $900 to $1,700 per month.

In this news story I wrote for The Daily Orange, I interviewed several Asian students who face this issue. “I understand (landlords) not wanting lots of students to back out of their lease,” one international student from Malaysia said. “But at the same time, I wish they were more helpful with helping students who were unable to go back.”
